Spring has sprung again in Puerto Vallarta, with the calendar seeming to whizz by in what has certainly been a year that none of us will soon forget. But what one also must not forget, as we move into April, is that this is the ideal time for Puerto Vallarta homeowners to put in a little effort to maintain their property, to get it ready for the summer season and to protect the value of their investment. Here is an easy Spring Maintenance Checklist to get you started.
- Now is a great time to put some extra attention into cleaning your ceiling fan blades, which can collect dust quickly, even in the most spotless of homes. Not only can dust build-up be bad for your sinuses, but it can weigh down the blades, causing your fan to be less efficient. While you’re up there, check that your fan is set to rotate counter-clockwise for maximum cooling effect.
- Spring is also a good time to call to have annual servicing done on your air conditioning units. During the summer months, wait times can be lengthy to get air-conditioning technicians to come to your home, leaving you to literally sweat it out, so getting filters cleaned and general maintenance attended to now is a good idea.
- Tenacious termites arrive around this time of year, and although they are harmless to humans, they aren’t so harmless to the wood in your home. Luckily, most condos and homes in Puerto Vallarta are constructed from concrete, but it is still a good plan to have your home inspected for cracks and spaces where doors and windows meet walls, to make sure that you’re not offering access to these unwanted visitors into your home.
With a little effort, your property in Puerto Vallarta will be all ready for spring and well-maintained, protecting its value and leaving you to enjoy the lovely seasonal weather.
