Summer is officially starting and with it, we have warmer weather in Puerto Vallarta. Although we are very lucky to have an excellent climate in PV all year, the summer months do see an increase in humidity and we have occasional evening rain showers that help bring down the temperature and keep the surrounding Sierra Madre jungle lush and green.
But warmer days call for a perfectly refreshing tropical drink, and while a Margarita may be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of traditional Tequila cocktails, we have another suggestion that may just be your new summer favorite – Introducing the Paloma!
A Tequila-based cocktail, the Paloma is a fresh alternative and, when made with the recipe below, is lower in calories and sugar than a cocktail made with Margarita mix. Here’s how to make one:
What You Need
· Your choice of Tequila blanco
· Unsweetened or fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
· Limes
· Agave nectar (found at any local supermarket)
What You Do
In a highball glass, mix 2 ounces of Tequila, half an ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice, a teaspoon of agave syrup and add ice. Then fill the remainder of the glass with to the top with grapefruit juice. Stir and enjoy!
If you would like to be fancy, all your ingredients can go into a cocktail shaker and then poured over ice, as well.
Treat yourself to a Paloma this summer season and leave us your thoughts on our recipe below or add one of your favorite recipes to try. Salud!
